2da week 4

this weeks task was to create a stop motion in a group. to capture the frames we used digital cameras which were connected to the computer. the images are saved as frames. the background can then be removed. when all the frames were complete we added sound.

2da week 3

This weeks task was to create a lip sync demo. toon boom has a built in lip syncing tool which makes this process very simple.

here i tested the technique using a simple face.

and here i have drawn a more detailed character.

2da week 2

this weeks task was to create a walk cycle. the techniques used included drawing, the auto light table, pivot points and joining mulitple layers into one object.

firstly i created 4 extra layers. this gave 5 layers in total. i named them with the 5 body parts needed (torso, arm front, arm back, leg front, leg back) and then drew the separate parts on their respective layers. the auto light table was useful in this instance as it allows the other layers to be visible when drawing which helps line up the body parts. to use this feature you simply click the light button in the top bar (next to onion skin).

with each layer drawn i attached the limbs to the torso layer by dragging and dropping them onto the torso layer. they are now linked. i then selected all the layers and extended the exposure by pressing the R key. i added 14 frames. i then added keyframes at the start, mid and end points of the limbs. using the rotate tool i first changed the pivot positions for each limb by dragging the green circle onto the joints. i then rotated the limbs in the appropriate keyframes to give the movement. i added some keyframes to the torso as well and used the motion tool to move the body up and down slightly.

the animation is finished!!

here is the video in avi:

and here is the gif image i made using microsoft gif animator, for some reason it doesn't cycle through the frames though...
